Gail Chadell Nanao's paintings manifest an eloquent and creative spirit. Her paintings are suffused with a cool glow creating a somber mood reminiscent of Francisco Goya and Edvard Munch. The rich tonal color is achieved with brushwork that appears to be free and loose in application but still maintains precision in defining form. The surfaces have an intrinsic glow. Her works impart a feeling of beauty that is profound and remote and timeless.
